Choosing a Domain Name:
Choosing a domain name is important. You want to register a domain name that is easy to remember and if possible, identify your product or service. For example if your business name is Wow Photography you can try and register wow.com.au or wowphotography.com.au the latter describes exactly what you do and the first one is short and easy to remember. (register both if you want)
If your lucky you can try and register generic domain names relating to your product or service. For example if you sell chocolates you can try and register chocolates.com.au
It's generally a good Idea to choose a .com.au domain name if you provide your services within Australia. It automatically signals to your visitors that you are an Australian organisation. For some businesses they register more than one domain name for example you can register yourbusinessname.com.au, yourbusinessname.net.au, yourbusinessname.com, yourbusinessname.net etc.
Whichever domain name extension you choose they all work the same way, though when people think of a website name the first thing that comes to mind is .com.au or .com
